Read the whole model, a sequence or phase, or just what you've selected, then send it with your fabricator's company code.

Read-only. Your model is never changed.

Before you start

A Windows 10 or 11 computer with your modelling software on it: SDS2 2025 or 2026, Tekla Structures 2022 or newer, or SolidWorks 2025 or newer.
SDS2: a free SDS2 API licence seat while it reads.
Your fabricator's company code (it looks like FC-7KQ4-M9XD), or a FabCommand account.
No admin rights needed to install.

How to use it

Open your model in SDS2, Tekla or SolidWorks. The connector finds it.
The first time, log in with your FabCommand account, or give your name, email and company and confirm your email with the code we send.
Choose what to read and point it at your PDF and NC folders, if you want those sent too. Click Run.
Pick a saved company or enter your fabricator's company code, and click Send. Follow it under Sent from this PC.

Connector questions

The short answers.

Does it change my model?

No. The connector only reads the model open in SDS2, Tekla or SolidWorks. Nothing in it is changed.

Do I need a FabCommand account?

No. Give your name, email and company, confirm your email with the code we send, and send with your fabricator's company code. With an account you can also send to any company you work with on FabCommand and open what you sent there.

What does it cost?

The Fab Connector is free.

Where do I get a fabricator's company code?

From the fabricator. Every company on FabCommand has one, and they share it with the detailers they work with. Only companies that give you their code can receive from you. The connector saves the codes you use, so next time it's one click.

Can I take a model back?

Yes, until someone at the fabricator opens it. Withdraw it from Sent from this PC.

How do I get updates?

From version 0.24 the Fab Connector checks for a new version by itself and shows You have an update. Click Update now: it installs in a few seconds and opens again, with your sign-in and settings kept. It only installs an update signed by FabCommand, Inc.

Windows says "Windows protected your PC" when I install it.

The installer is signed by FabCommand, Inc. Right after a new version comes out, Windows can still show this until it has seen enough downloads of it. Check that the publisher says FabCommand, Inc., then click More info and Run anyway.

What if something goes wrong?

Email us at contact@fabcommand.com or open a ticket on our support page. The connector keeps a log of every run, and we'll tell you which file to send.
